if there are two displays and the desktop is e.g. 2560 x 1024 (2 screens with 1280x1024), your applet is showing with the size of the desktop but only on one screen meaning that the half of your applet is not seen.
potential for improvement, but excellent idea! - Mar 05 2007

i'm searching for long for a solution to sync the addressbook from kmail/kontact with my t610 but didn't find anything easy for it (i mean real sync: change a detail on PC or phone and then sync them correctly, so that the information is on both devices in the end)
looking forward for your next releases ... keep the great work up

i would like to know, what CC-licence you have choosen - is it PD or do you choose a more restrictive CC?
the reason i'm asking:
i'm member of the "Calcutta Project Basel" (a foundation made by students here in Basel, Switzerland "for a better world" as we call it ;-) - we have a ambulatorium and prevention programmes running in Calcutta India and want to help people that are on the bottom of the civilisation --- www.calcutta-project.ch - the website is not yet fully working - i'm the only webmaster, that's why ;-) )
as i'm also responsible for the public relations and the documents we are making, i'm looking for some SVG icons/symbols/cliparts i can use and not need to start at tabula rasa --- and your collection seems a really good resource
i will only use it if it is really public domain and not restricted in any way (mainly because i'm not yet sure, what we are going to do in the end ... for now, it's a folder with papers, that describe our programmes and it looks boring with only text ;-) )
thanx in advance for reply - feel free to email me: damir dot perisa at gmail dot com - Oct 19 2004

is there a chance to make it 1800x1200 instead of 1600x1067? (fotos are in 2:3 format and screens are in 3:4 - you need to cut the photo to get 3:4) - Oct 11 2004

a canon eos 300d
... but much more important is what lenses: i used a 50mm/1.8 with an 12mm extension tube (to be able to get so close to the subject to set it sharp)
hope it helps you - Oct 11 2004

well, my background is, that i used a SLR for some years and about a year ago switched to D-SLR --- it often is much more important to have good lenses than 100Mpixel, because the lens is projecting the reality to the area that should then save this projecton --- i would never buy a small lens-builtin camera, because of the disadvantage of the builtin lenses compared to a normal non-zoom external one (but becasue of this, i have to carry much more than you in the field ~1,7kg)
for touristic photos, an normal digicam is ok, but insects fly fast and the reaction from release to the effective release of the shutter should be as low as possible - and this is the good thing on a D-SLR: it takes the pic imediately (compared to non-SLR --- but in some cases, it is still too slow, as nature is faster (than my eos300d))
relative cheap but great are the D70 and the 300D (the 300D i own, the D70 seems to be very simmilar)
actually, for really great photos, the 300D is too slow for me, but i don't have the money for a EOS-1Ds Mark II or a EOS-1D Mark II or similar - Sep 25 2004

- good weather (sunny, but with clouds (the clouds lower the contrasts and make details look normal))
- digital SLR with 50/1.8mm + extension tube of 25mm
- fascination in nature
- time to spend
- hdd-memory to spend
- some training in this process
i make series of photographs, while insects fly --- this way, one of 2-3 photos in one series is sharp with the object you want to actually take a pic from ;-) ... the disadvantage is, that you go to the botanical garden, take 2x256mb and 1x512mb on CF and come back with only 6 photos that are really good and ~150 photos that are not (because not sharp, because the bee or other insect was already away or decided to change direction of flight, while you decided to release the shutter) - Sep 23 2004

i like this licence also very much:
me, as a hobby-photographer, i can take quite nice pictures that, if someone wants to print them in large format (up to 50x75cm @ >150dpi) can buy them from me for the original file (full resolution) but wallpapers i make of pictures i give "free" under the CC by-nc-sa licence, to allow other people to use them for their works (i'm not very good playing with gimp to make digital art yet, but others can, so they can make digital art wallpapers of my photo wallpapers under this licence without problems) - Sep 23 2004

i really like this tool --- maybe the most usefull frontend to watch dvd -- xine is a great library, but the GUI that comes natively with it is not that good
the difference kplayer and kaffeine: worlds: kplayer is using mplayer, kaffeine xinelib --- this says everything :-) (ever tried to watch a dvd with menus on mplayer? over xinelib it just works)
but i agree with the equalizer: it is not that user-friendly --- the problem is that the small bar-handlers are not that easy to catch with the mouse ... same for the timeline-handler; but that are details, that do not disturb using this tool i think - Jan 18 2004

-homo sapiens has evolved from other species that do not live any more ... we do not have ancestors in the living species!!
-some religions maybe claim there is no evolution, but also in science you do not have "evidence", you only have "indizien-beweise" (sorry, know only the german word) = only parts of a puzzle that we cannot see the whole picture, only parts of it ... remember "Lamarck" and "Darwin" wrote 2 different theories on the origin of species ... and now we say darwin was (particullary) right and lamarck not, but this is not 100% right, as also some parts of the evolution-theory of lamarck is (in my eyes) right ..-
// i find it interessting to see 2 or more comunities that do not directly relate to KDE discussing on kde-look about what is right and what wrong
i'm not religious (i try not to be in any way), but i like the bible, because it is a well written book; of the same reason i also like "the origin of species" and also "kungfutse" and other great literature like "moby dick" :-) ... if you are religious, please read the whole book before citing out of it, and one more thing: if you create backgrounds with quotes out of books with religious background, try to make them great-looking and not so shiny and "kitschig" (sorry, also here i know only the german word) ... not the quantity is important, the quality matters much more - Nov 15 2003

... yes the playing around with focal depth (making background of a image smooth or things like this...) can be really cool; especially when you want to make shapes of nature sharp and nice-looking in the foreground
... evolution? ... yes, it's this direction, but warning: if people interpret in evolution more than a "theory" (and it actually is, as there are no direct evidences, because nobody was there some hundred milions ago to watch the species addapting over a long time :-), this can be also a "religion"
sometimes a nice shape of a plant is nothing more than the nice looking plant you see :-)

[+]: instead of telling that Einstein told that, you put a photo of him there
[+]: colours are decent (= not crying)
what i would maybe change is having an transperent background of the photo of Einstein ... this dark color is a little bit destroying the smoothness, i think
a comment about resolution: better post in a higher resolution than a lower ... this way everyone can reduce it --- if you have a too low resolution of the background and have a UXGA LCD on your laptop (where you cannot change the hardware resolution), the pic is not longer sharp - Sep 16 2003
