As an aside, is there any way to install this on a box without having root access? Where do I put the engine or how do I tell GTK+ where to look for the engines? - Mar 03 2005

For any GNOME users looking to have a similar window border as in the original screenshots, here is my port of XFCE-Winter: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=20140
I noticed that the sourceforge page is still blank; how is that coming along? If you would like some help with it, I'd be happy to design and/or implement the page. - Feb 25 2005

I like the fact that the rounded edges only on the outside of the entire scrollbar give it a "whole" kind of look, as in, "look I'm a single widget" or something. Don't know why but it appeals to me ;-)
That said, for consistency purposes the other style is better.
I think Firefox and OpenOffice.org are problematic for most themes, and I vote to ignore them. - Jan 30 2005

You will probably notice that utility windows are now the same size as normal windows. I think it looks alright, but any feedback is appreciated.
Like I said on the forums, if anyone makes any modification I can include it in the "official" release if you contact me. - Jan 28 2005

I've been looking through the source and am going to play with it a bit (I've never made a theme engine before, but the actual drawing code doesn't really look that complicated). It's mostly gdk and math.
That screenshot of the upcoming version 0.2 looks great. The scrollbars in 0.1 are one of the things that bug me a bit, and they look much better in the shot.
Also, might I suggest a rounded progress bar as well? A rounded bar with a simpler gradient to match the rest of the theme, or did you have something else in mind?
Is there a repository or somewhere we can grab the latest sources? If not, I would suggest creating a Sourceforge.net project for the engine so others (like me) could try to help out. - Jan 15 2005

Cursors by pinux 22 comments
Making the purple more of a secondary color really helped me to enjoy Lila, which is why I originally made those green backgrounds. I assume making the cursors green, white, or black would also help.
Nice theme :) - Dec 04 2004
I do have some issues, but most of them have been solved in the soon-to-be announced Inkscape 0.39. - Jun 22 2004
