Had to let you know I really like this one. It's kind of subtle and that's what I think makes it beautiful. Should definitely get more credit than it's getting at the moment.

KDE 3.x Splash Screens by incoherent 18 comments

Not to hard to fix this one, find the Theme.rc file for Vallerie (by default this is ~/.kde/share/apps/ksplash/Themes/Vallerie/ )
and open it up in your texteditor of choice. Find the line starting with "Label2", you'll notice it says ML:loginname, simple change that so it reads ML:USER:loginname and save the file.
