Wouldn't it be even better, if it could wake up the computer (if he supports ACPI-RTC wake up)?

HINT:

use
echo UTCTIMESTAMP > /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm
to store an alarm. If the boards accepts alarms you can read the stored alarm in
/proc/driver/rtc - Nov 21 2009
