KWin drop shadow patches for kde3.3

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by zuxez 71 comments

I also would be very interested in a patch for KDE 3.4.

Point is that my graphics card cannot support 3D direct rendering and xcompmgr simultaneously, since I rely on the ATI proprietary driver fglrx for the 3D rendering. This driver does not support the damage extension. It does not work together with xcompmgr.

I believe, I am not alone with this problem, so a port of the fake drop shadow patch to KDE 3.4 would be great.

Moreover, xcompmgr is still experimental. In my experience, the fake shadows, although they sometimes do not work perfectly, work very stable and reliable, while xcompmgr ist still flaky and crashes often. - May 11 2005
StyleClock

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by uddw 154 comments

Using SuSE 9.1 with KDE 3.2 and QT 3.3 as from the latest YOU updates. I can compile styleclock without problem. However, I only get a black square. This has been reported before, but no real solution to the problem has been given.

I have an ATI FireGL T2 card, so I have hardware OpenGL support only with the ATI fglrx driver. This is installed properly, and (most) other OpenGL apps work fine.

Any suggestions? - Oct 28 2004

Great work!
One small wish:
Could you add a sticky/unsticky button? That is the only thing I miss.

Aqua OS K

KDE 3.x Window Decorations by davidsansome 139 comments

Is this a bug or a feature? Did anybody else observe this? When using Mac OsX style drop shadows, the active window gets a two pixel thick dark gray line approximately 16 to 20 pixel below its bottom border. Otherwise, the drop shadow looks as in the screenshot. I use KDE 3.1.0 installed on my SuSE 7.3 from the original SuSE rpm packages and compiled your KWinAcqua+DropSchadows myself. - Feb 26 2003

On SuSE 7.3 with updated versions for
autoconf (2.52) and automake (1.5)
I get the following when doing
make -f Makefile.cvs :

This Makefile is only for the CVS repository
This will be deleted before making the distribution

*** Creating acinclude.m4
!!! If you get recursion errors from autoconf, it is advisable to set the
environment variable M4 to something including "--nesting-limit=500"
*** Creating list of subdirectories
*** Creating configure.in
*** Creating aclocal.m4
*** Creating configure
*** Creating config.h template
*** Creating Makefile templates
automake: blackbox/config/Makefile.am: `kwin_blackbox_config.la' is not a standard libtool library name
make[1]: *** [cvs] Error 1
make: *** [all] Error 2

Can anybody help me here? - Jan 18 2003
sky's keramic gkrellm

Various Stuff by skyshadow 4 comments

I came across the same problem,
which affects gkrellm with its
default skin as well as other apps
such as xmms with shaped skins.

My solution is to issue the command
"dcop kwin KWinInterface reconfigure"
after starting the application.
I think it is a bug in kwin.

This works for my old KDE 2.2.1,
I don't know how this works in KDE3.

Good luck - Oct 11 2002

Ice-WM Themes by Row 1 comment

Hi,

another nice icewm theme. But:
Is anybody out there working at the icewem
client for kwin such that it can work with
shaped window decorations such as icewm 1.1
can do? That would increase possibilities
for great window decorations themes a lot!

Aqua Fusion Icon Theme 0.4

Icon Sub-Sets by AquaFusion 80 comments

Hi,

this is one great icon theme.
I have just one more icon on my wishlist:
I would like to have one which looks like a shell.
Is this possible without too much trouble?

Looking forward to any new release and many more
such icons ...

Aqua Fusion Icon Add-On

Icon Sub-Sets by AquaFusion 14 comments

Hi,

that is a great Icon Theme!
I installed it immediately, and
finally my desktop has a really
good look.

However, I need more icons!
I desperately could need icons for
Mathematica, for Maple, and also for various KDE actions such as
'Quick Browse', 'Recent Documents',
'Configure Panel', 'openterm' etc.
Currently, some menus show a wild
mix of your nice icons together with the standard 'hicolor' icon
theme icons.

Wow!
