I installed gtk-theme-config and changed the options under "Custom menu colors" to:
Menu background: dark grey
Menu text: white

Please install the package
"libtranslate" or "libtranslate-bin"
(whichever your distro offers)
and start the conversion again!
so you should
install the package if not already in terminal
sudo apt-get install libtranslate-bin
and in the script also line 1380
replace it with
########
which translate-bin 2>&1 >/dev/null || info translate-bin | grep -q "translate a text" && trbin=/usr/bin/translate-bin
########
notice how it has || instead of &&
found this fix on the spanish fourms. thanks for the work mang i love what you have done. - Feb 13 2013

Replace the sizes which appear in the following line with your own:
# Icon size settings for menus, panels and toolbars
gtk-icon-sizes = "panel-menu=48,48:panel=48,48:gtk-button=16,16:gtk-large-toolbar=24,24" - Feb 12 2008

Great theme! I was using one called "Hacked" which looked like OS X, which was nice, but caused confusion with screenshots.
This theme is just as beautiful! If I could make one suggestion it would be bigger close/minimize buttons.
Thank you!!! - Dec 18 2007

On my laptop, I've got a decent graphics card and can run Compiz Fusion, but my desktop at work has a Matrox G400, so Metacity is one of my options. Right now I'm running e17 on it, but may switch back to Gnome and Metacity, and I'll keep this theme (and the other sister theme as well) in mind if I switch back.
Thanks, and great work! - Nov 30 2007

My only comment is I prefer a solid color on the menu selection item, rather than the striped. It just makes it easier to read. I'd keep the striped details to the progress bars and scrollbars, where there's no text that needs to flow with the control. - Sep 28 2007

Eliminate some of the buttons, and it should be fine, of course if you like purple (which isn't one of my favorite colors, but has no impact on the theme's usability). If a user wants to sticky a window or whatever else all those things up top do, they can do it from the menu or a hotkey. Most users, such as myself, who want to sticky a window will map a key rather than fishing around for some odd icon or waiting for the tooltips to appear.
Just my $0.002. Sorry for the username, but as far as I'm concerned, you shouldn't have to register to post a comment so long as you're respectful to the author. - Sep 24 2007

So, I address my tirade to the theme designers of this world: please create something original. And those of you doing so, thank you very much for your efforts! :) Peace. - Aug 01 2007

My reason for writing, though, is to let you know that the panel-bg-black-24.svg is the same size as the panel-bg-black-36.svg (i.e. it's 1x36, rather then 1x24.) Maybe it's supposed to be this size, but I'm guessing not. Since I use a 24 pixel panel heigth, I changed it to 1x24 on my system and it looks much better (now lines up with the button images, etc.) - Jun 13 2007
