Oxygen KDE (Firefox Theme)

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by jimmy88 1783 comments

First off, I love this theme. I used it with Firefox 3 and now I'm using it in Firefox 4 Beta 9. I've noticed a few little glitches. I've taken two screen shots.

1. When you pin a tab it looks really strange. I was assuming it would look like the other tabs only more narrow.

2. When there is only one tab open in addition to a pinned tab, everything shifts by 1px. In the screen shots, the Minefield button is 1px taller when viewing the pinned tab.

3. With tabs on top, there is no real transition between the toolbar and the page. The gray just kind of ends.

4. Not sure what can be done about this one. (It may be corrected when the other addons update.) I moved the status bar icons to toolbar with Firefox 4 UI Fixer, and they are a much darker shade of gray.

5. Just a thought. The Minefield (Menu) button looks fine, but is it possible to get an option with the Firefox logo in it? Something like these: http://www.kabatology.com/12/22/firefox-4-design-mock-ups-updated/

Which distribution are you using?

You just want to place the files in the Firefox config folder. Try searching for forms.css: "locate forms.css | grep firefox". The folder should be named "res". You must be root to copy the files though. - Aug 20 2007

I love it. It's truly amazing. My only beef is that the hidden folders look the same as the regular ones. I was hoping for a translucent effect. Again, awesome work! - Jun 24 2007

Alright, sorry. I thought of a better solution. I don't know if you've tried this yet, but I think it might work. I guess you're using dcop to get the album cover URL. So it returns something like this: ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/albumcovers/cache/160@876140feb46d6e7865e08bad6eeb7773
I don't know python so I can't help with the syntax at all, but you could use a regular expression to remove the 160@ and change the top directory and you'd have a link to the full sized album cover. (i.e. ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/albumcovers/large/876140feb46d6e7865e08bad6eeb7773) I see two issues. Everyone has different sizes so you'd have to remove a generic size with the regular expression. The other issue is that if a song is encoded with an album tag cover, the proper cover is in the "tagcover" folder instead of the "large" folder. So, I guess check if that one exists. If not check the other one.

That should work. Maybe there's a more elegant solution... But at least this doesn't force amarok to have a huge image. I would try but I don't know python and I'm no where as good as you with graphics. Good work and I hope that helps. - Jun 04 2007

I'm gonna reply to myself here. You could definitely make it much larger. Amarok downloads large album covers, you just have to change the amarok default cover size like I suggested in the previous post to match the size you have for your karamba. It would give you more room for song info, etc. The only consequence is that the album covers in amarok's context section will also be that size - which people may or may not like. - Jun 04 2007

Amarok only lets you set the cover preview to 150px. You can cheat though. If you edit ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc and change "Cover Preview Size" under "[General Options]" to 160 then there's no distortion. I agree that a double sized one would be awesome. - Jun 04 2007
