Sure. I'm using kubuntu maverick (development branch) and I've just hit the "Get New Widgets" button -> "Download new plasma widgets" -> "Install" on Yet Another Netspeed Monitor and all done. This is the output for any plasma/ruby installed packages in my system:

$ dpkg-query -W| grep -i ruby | grep -i plasma
libplasma-ruby 4:4.5.1-0ubuntu3
libplasma-ruby1.8 4:4.5.1-0ubuntu3

what I was looking for! for this type of monitor, the main thing is to have numeric values, graphics look good but not very useful.
Some suggestions:
- with this layout (one info per line)

I've no width problem ;)
- Why don't add the capability to display the IP Address?
- When I try to add two plasmoids (one for eth0 and one for wlan0), each plasmoid seems to share the same config file, so not allowing to use more than one plasmoid in the same time.

I had the same error, solved in my kubuntu 10.04 (KDE 4.4.80 (KDE 4.5 Beta1)) by installing the package libqt4-ruby1.8 .

Awesome idea? I Don't know... childrens are humans, not machines where you can set a timeout... I Don't think that is a good point of view. If my son take a lot of time in front of a computer, or a television, the problem, in my case, isn't the absence of a tool that shutdown the computer or the television automatically...

I'm a fan of ayatana notification system (look very nice with amarok's notifications, firefox's notifications and in general with the application's notifications) from Kubuntu KDE 4.3.4 karmic, now I just installed the ppa packages for the kde 4.4 beta1 and ayatana is gone away, then I've found this project Colibri, but I don't know how to enable it... I've successfully installed the sources, but my applications still continue to use the ugly kde 4.4 system tray notifications...

What do you think about to hide immediately the OSD if a mouse click event occurs (like amarok OSD does it for example), I think it'd be "the icing on the cake"

I had your own problem. Try this: quit from kmix, execute kvolumeosd and then re-execute kmix. This workaround for me has solved the problem. I don't known what is the issue, but if I create a new kde user account the problem doesn't occur. KDE 3.5.9. - May 12 2008

as the output error shows, you don't have the file xmmsctrl.h in your library path. This library comes with the xmms-dev package, try to install it and try again.
