I've installed meteosat 0.3 and I found this:
1. I had some old configuration in ~/.superkaramba/... so I got immediately sat picture on the desktop. But, X server=100% CPU. That's unacceptable.
2. Configure theme menu option is greyed out...
3. I've started meteosat for new user (hasn't had any old config) and meteosat doesn't even run.
Superkaramba version: 0.37-RC2

But the resolution is too low. I use 1280x1024 on desktop and 1680x1050 on notebook.
Also, I do not run SuSE on a Mac...
Anyway, nice work.

I like icons very much.
The KDE style could be more flat. It's just too much 3D.

I like lipstik very much and I've been using it for very long time.
But, with version 1.2 the animated logo - the last icon on konqueror's main toolbar is not shown when I have extra toolbar on (my default).
I downgraded to 1.1 and everythings works fine.

somehow I cannot agree that user should see the system log. This opens a big security hole as system log CAN contain some sensitive information. Even passwords if root forgets to reset log level of a program after debugging.
Further, to install a graphics card of any other piece of hardware the root privileges are required.
Please, don't take Windows as a good security example as it is NOT secure.
User should and normally is able to read only logs like ~/.xsession-errors.
I would appreciate if .desktop file created during installation already contained "Run as root" so kdesu would always start.

when it's bug in superkaramba it's something else.
But consider please my suggestions after the bug is fixed.
OK? :))

I don't like this reasoning. Every a bit thinking person knows he/she is not connected and the weather is not fresh. Especially notebook users have to know very well when they are connected and when not.
Further, it is possible to give this information on the main display e.g. write in red "Not updateted" or "Old forecast" or so.
Or, it can be a configurable option: "Prefer immediate display for the sake of actuality"
Still better than the black rectangle.

I'm using lwp on my notebook and I connect to internet via Edge GSM connection. Handy via Bluetooth.
Now, when I log in and lwp starts the picture is displayed after 1-2 min delay after the weather is updated from internet.
My suggestion is: Just immediately display latest available forecast and only then run the background update process.
This would solve also the situation when I'm not connected at all. I'd only had the old forecast and I wouldn't need to stare at the black rectangle for some minutes.
Maybe only my setting is wrong... ;) If so gimme a hint.

When I run:
kcmshell musicman
from konsole I get error dialog that says: "The specified library libmusicman could not be found." and more: "The diagnostics is: Library files for 'kcm_libmusicman.la' not found in paths"
Any hint?

The mouse wheel "browsable" history is also nice feature. Keep it in.
Thanx - looking forward.
Jozef - Jun 15 2005
nice work I like it very much.
I have some suggestions to improve:
1. Default update time specified in theme is 1000 ms = 1s. With this setting meteosat eats about 15% of the processor load on my notebook. Therefore I've set it to 20000 = 20s but then I had to edit meteosat.py as to change update to 30 (10 min) and also condition when to download the image tc==16 -> tc==2. I don't know if my approach is correct so you could do something about processor time needed for running meteosat. I thing the 1s period is really much too small.
2. I've decided to use fetchurl="http://www.meteotest.ch/img/wepro/prog_sat_vis.jpg" (the reason is I see state boudaries there) but this image has no time in the upper left corner you use for history. The ideal would be not to time stored in the image but to save/display it separately.
3. You could maybe also add some more urls to download image from. Maybe directly from NASA.
Nevertheless, keep on the developing - nice piece...
