I would heartily recommend that you talk to Andrea Cimitan and see if your theme could be an official theme included by default in gnome. It has potential to rock.
I am using the clearlooks-only version, haven't tried the murrine svn one. - Sep 26 2008

Converting from bzip2 to gzip by using file-roller's "Save as" feature worked for me. - Apr 14 2008

If you only provided kamel.tar.gz (the one that is inside the current archive you distribute), users could just "drag and drop" in the theme/appearance window (or use the "install" button). - Nov 02 2007

jeff@kaname:~/.icons$ mv Kamel\ alpha\ 0.2/ kamel
So, your package should contain ONLY a directory named "kamel" with the index.theme and the "scalable" subdirectories. That way, it will be handled properly by the gnome appearance manager. - Nov 02 2007
I haven't actually tested, and I don't actually have the time and inclination to maintain this theme anymore (especially when Tango + gnome icons are so nice and complete in my opinion), as I mentionned at the top of this page. So if anyone wants to pick up the ownership of this theme and fix it, drop me a line :) - Sep 04 2007

I also added a dependency on hicolor and removed the gpm battery icon.
About the trash not being transparent on the panel: sorry but that's most likely a bug on your side, mine (gnome 2.18 though) works fine with the transparent background. - Mar 16 2007

I opened the gnome-theme-manager, clicked the "install new theme" button and chose my tar.gz file. It worked without any problems :| What's that symbols thing you are talking about? - Feb 11 2007

Maybe that's because in the thumbnail you can't see the fresnel effect.
What I'd like to see would be a version made out of it that would be "smoother", with less contrasted elements, and possibly in blue, brown, orange too. I don't know how it would look like. For example, currently there is a stripe near the middle-left that is very very bright, it's slightly disturbing, maybe that's just me. - Dec 17 2006
I am running Dapper Drake, by the way. - Apr 02 2006
- "dapper drake" is written: it does not mean so much, and in six months, your wallpaper will be useless
- if you still keep it, I suggest maybe something other than plain yellow, it's out of phase with the ubuntu palette (brownish, orange) and with the blue background...
Great potential though! - Mar 31 2006
