"qt/qtmod.sip" is provided by PyQt

Probably you need the pyqt-devel package, if it exists in Mandriva. If not you will have to compile PyQt too :(

By the way I'm using PyQt 3.14.1 and SIP 4.2.1 - Aug 09 2005

It seems a python path problem or a version mismath :(

Try in a konsole:

python -c "import kdecore"

If you get any error then probably there's a problem in the pyKDE package you have installed.

Anyway, you can try to install this snapshot manually (remove first the package version you have already installed):

Nice idea, and if you have xorg 6.8 you already can get this effect due to composite extension.
(look at: http://gentoo-wiki.com/TIP_Xorg_X11_and_Transparency and http://forchheimer.se/transset-df/)

You also will have to change in desktop.py this line:

KWin.setState(self.winId(), NET.KeepBelow | NET.SkipPager | NE T.SkipTaskbar)

to:

KWin.setState(self.winId(), NET.StaysOnTop | NET.SkipPager | NE T.SkipTaskbar)

in order to get the desktop script always on top. - Aug 01 2005

Hi,

Is pretty bizarre mmmm maybe the problem is that you have enabled "Restore manually saved session" in KDE Components/Session Manager in kcontrol.
Try to change it to "Start with an empty session" or save a new one after deleting all instances (with a "killall -9 python" or ctrl+esc...)

I've already read this problem before so I should change the script to KUniqueApplication or something like this.

Anyway, please, tell me if changing the options in kcontrol solve your problem. - Aug 01 2005

Well, I don't use icons in kdesktop so I didn't notice that. Thanks for the report I will try to fix it for the next version.

I've been a little busy last months so that's why the 0.3 version did not come yet :(
In free weeks I hope to release it with new features like cover resize using arthur or (temporarily) cairo, shadow support, etc.. - Jun 14 2005

Hi,

I got it using XOrg 6.8.x (www.x.org) and it runs pretty smoothly.

With XOrg 6.8.x you will also get translucent windows (true transparency) - Apr 28 2005

I'm using amarok-cvs and I have no problem with the script. Maybe the problem is kdelibs.
Did you update to kde 3.4?

There is a snapshot of PyKDE that works on kde 3.4:

You can try this to ensure:

python -c "import kdecore"

Anyway the 0.3 version will be released next week with some features like resizeable cover (using cairo http://cairographics.org) and maybe with a shadow option. - Mar 31 2005

Yep, I was thinking in something like that.

The next version will have real cd-box borders instead the old gray borders so I'm thinking how to do it. Probably I will use a SVG cd-box.

There's an autorun option in amarok's script manager but you need amarok-cvs. It was added after beta4 - Feb 09 2005
