Yes, i have same problem, it's a kopete problem, nothing todo with this script. Kopete has difficulty displaying many special characters. There is a bug filed for it, hopefully it will be fixed soon. - Jun 30 2004

I've managed to get my Microsoft Multimedia natural keyboard special buttons working in KDE 3.2.1 with the Khotplug module in the KDE control center. So no need for lineak any more.

In case this is any use to anyone I followed the instructions here:

When you select folder icons reflect content from the view menu it overlays a text icon on a folder icon for folders with text in for example.

The resultant icon is clearly different from the text folder icon provided in the iconset - Aug 13 2003

yep, i get that with SuSE 8 as well with all qt stuff, i think it is something to do with LD_LIBRARY_PATH not being set up properly after updating qt but i don't no. Anyway i found you can get round it by running configure and make as root, which is probably pretty bad but it works - May 26 2003
