(I've tried several others nearby with the same result)
I am logged on when launching the app. There may be times when I'm not connected down the road. Just as an fyi in case this helps. I've tried several other weather plug ins and can never get the 5 day forcasts working.

I now have 3 folders in that dir
bootloader
config
images
I ran edited /etc/sysconfig/bootsplash
so it now reads
/etc/bootsplash/themes/SuSEsplash
THEME="bootsplash"
I then ran SuSEconfig and mk_initrd and got the following...
# SuSEconfig --module bootsplash
Starting SuSEconfig, the SuSE Configuration Tool...
Running module bootsplash only
Reading /etc/sysconfig and updating the system...
Module bootsplash does not exist
Finished.
# mk_initrd
