Personally, these boundaries make me strongly feel that my desktop is limited and I'm not as free as I am with one-bar desktop. I believe I'm not alone in this.
Almost all of the Windows migrators are used to one-bar desktop. We must not play with general attitudes.
With this approach, we can consume less desktop place. Because if we make task bar tinier with 2 bars desktop, task bar will get negligible attention; but with this approach, you can make it as tiny as you can, and still get attention at one point.
This fits very well wih Raleigh Expose approach.
I think having one single center of focus is better
Additionally, (2) implies also the fact that the desktop starts with 0 verbs (as in Windows), and verbs start appearing with user's interventions. - Oct 30 2005

This already exists in Turkix, it's called kiostart.
You can have a look at it on http://www.turkix.org
You can reach its source codes from http://cvsweb.turkix.org - Nov 15 2004

I will try to make a port for Mandrake.. Source codes will be available in CVS, you'll be able to reach them from Turkix web site.
And thenew kioslave is not a frozen web page output. It changes regarding your devices added or removed. It's in full interaction with your system as in devices:/ kioslaves. Plus, whether you device is mounted or not, it mounts it and shows you the output. I've named it kiostart. - Sep 26 2004

I've compilde it (0.6) successfully on kde 3.2.2 & Mandrake 10.0..
The kmenu is larger now, but the text area does not appear, just the logo at the middle of the button.
I've added the following entry to both /usr/share/config/kickerrc and ~/.kde/share/config/kickerrc :
[KMenu]
ShowText=true
LabelText=Anamenu
..
Why this problem occurs? Thanx in advance! - Jul 30 2004
