I got this to install and work, but I notice a couple of things. First, Kaffeine doesn't play back .flv files very well (very jumpy), but Mplayer plays nicely. Second, mencoder only converted part of the .flv to .mpg and ffmpeg will only output a zero-length file and a long list of errors.

Nice, but still needs work.

Any idea how to install this in SUSE 10.1? The instructions given don't work (no "~/.kde/share/apps/kdm/themes" folder and no "~/.kde/share/config/kdm/kdmrc" file).

Download the picture and open with Gimp. Then magnify on the crescent and adjust the brightness and contrast. If you do it right, you find that the moon image is actually superimposed, and the sun/sky color gradients appear in the dark part of the moon consistent with the rest of the sky.
