Thanks for the detailed problem description. That helped me find and workaround it. I think it might happen due to a Qt bug. Can you try the new version I just uploaded? - Apr 14 2011

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. What is the advantage of not using GLib? Most distributions nowadays ship Qt with GLib mainloop integration. - Mar 24 2011

I have seen this reported for Python widgets as well for KDE 4.5. Sadly, I do not have KDE 4.5 installed anywhere so I cannot test this at the moment - Mar 04 2011

Hi, which one did you install? Did the last message appear on the desktop or plasmoidviewer? Please install the 45 version and execute "plasmoidviewer olibreplaces" in the terminal. - Mar 04 2011

Hi. Are you using KDE 4.5 or older? Please try the 4.5 download.
If that does not work, please tell me the output of:

plasmoidviewer olibreplaces

or

plasmoidviewer org.orbitalibre.places - Feb 24 2011

Sorry about that. It now should be installable from the Plasma desktop.

You can also download it. Click on it and open it with "plasmapkg -i". - Feb 22 2011

You should be able to install without problems plasma-scriptengine-ruby from Fedora 15 because the package only contains ruby scripts, that don't change very much between KDE versions. - Feb 22 2011

I don't think so. But let's see what Plasma/Qt brings for 4.4. Hopefully, better layouts. - Sep 26 2009

On KDE 4.4 you will be able to simply drop the wallpaper to the desktop.

But, what exactly does your servicemenu do anyway? :) - Sep 26 2009

It works perfectly in pure Debian (my laptop).

The includes issue must be a difference from the debian-multimedia repository. Maybe the white background is a bug there too. I'll try again later. - Sep 19 2009

I restarted plasma-desktop from konsole to find some clues on the white background.

Output is filled with:
[swscaler @ 0x7fbec1063040]No accelerated colorspace conversion found.

But it appears when I only use the preview as well. - Sep 18 2009

The same as in Debian.

you need the Find modules like this:
find_path (libavformat_INCLUDES libavformat/avformat.h

and change the vid.h includes to
#include <libavformat/avformat.h> - Sep 18 2009

On my system I had to tweak the includes to the format livavcodec/avcodec.h in the cmake modules and vid.h to get it to build.

Once it builds, the preview plays fine but, I get a white background on the real thing. - Sep 17 2009

As you can see in http://websvn.kde.org/?view=rev&revision=917041 the comicbook backend got a nice update :)

This is from kde trunk (soon to be 4.3). I am not sure if this will be backported to 4.2. - Jan 26 2009

The problem is that the Okular backend opens *every* image when loading the comicbook to get the pictures sizes, which is suboptimal.

Gwenview, in KDE both 3 and 4, opens only one image. I forgot Gwenview. It is almost perfect, yes. I just have not filed some bug reports for some annoyances. - Jan 15 2009

>What's the purpose of a comic reader with okular as backend? Just to have a simpler menu?

Because I like Okular. QComicBook has some annoyances and Comix(just tried it) has an horrible interface. And yes, Omaque is simpler. It can improve and get more features, though.

> I used to use gwenview + kio-slaves in kde 3, in kde 4 it moved to okular, but okular speed
with archives/cbr/cbz is really too low, so I moved to comix (not a kde app), and it's way faster!

The Okular backend can see improvements in load speed. I might tackle this in the future. But it uses the same libraries the KIO Zip slave uses. - Jan 15 2009

A recent change in kdebase broke the ruby plasmoids. You can fix it by reverting the ruby scriptengine package. - Jan 11 2009

Thank you for your comment. Yes, it is a known issue. Image and Slideshow use the same plugin and I have not yet found a way to tell which is the used one. I should note this on the description. - Dec 13 2008
