go ahead ! you don't need any approval from me. But if you want to I'll incorporate it in the download-package. But I'll have to see the result first. Just upload it in the Beryl or compiz section, I'll find it... - Jul 13 2008

You will only get the big black area in the top of the window when there is a menu beneath the metacity-window. The update-manager has no menu, so you will only see the upper-part of the window. - Jul 13 2008

As for the rounded black panelbutton. You are right, but I always use only a bottompanel. So I didn't take that into account...

I'm not familiar with compiz-windowborders. Is anyone out there that could port me the theme to compiz?

Since I'm running Ubuntu with virtualbox I cannot enable Compiz-effects, and therefore I'm not able to do anything that requires Compiz...

The font is 'HandelGotDLig'

Just 'google' for this ttf-file and place it in the the user/share/fonts directory under 'true fonts'

I use the original leopard version (here on gnome-look). I like the orinigal GTK theme more but the your metacity theme is better. So I use a mix of the two... - Jul 04 2007

Your top menubar is grey-silver, yet even leopard is still using a white menubar. Leopard - unlike its previous versions -can make it transparent now.
Anyway if you want to copy leopard you need a white menubar.

I'm using your theme and it is the best theme ever (I can tell when comparing it with my Imac G5 with OSX)

Keep up the good work! - Jun 16 2007

I like the buttons too. And it would be nice to see a version with rounded windowborder. If you don't like to invest the time for it, then I suggest you use an existing rounded metacity-theme and use your own (excellent) buttons on it. - May 12 2007

If you can give me a hint on how to make a screenshot of the GDM in action then I will. I can't seem to manage that... I always photoshop a mock up of the actual theme I present...

Talking about screenshots: Could you upload a bigger screenshot of your GDM theme. The picture is to small.

I like it how you created the impression to have a transparent userlist. A nice mix of colors...
Anyway as a GDM-themer myself (see my contributions at Gnome-look) I'm always at the lookout for some new elements to use in GDM-design.

About this theme? I've installed and tried it and it looks nice. But some elements did not show up on the right please. The date and the 'welcome' appeared right at the middle-window border... I know it is notoriously difficult to test GDM-themes on different screen-resolutions.

Keep up the good work though! I've noticed your other contributions at gnome-look and they look great! - May 07 2007

I agree, good job done! But "think different" is a typical "apple"-expression. Perhaps that is why there is such a bad rating? - May 06 2007

I do not want to start a discussion about Gimp and Photoshop here. Perhaps all I did with photoshop is possible with Gimp. Only with Gimp it sometimes takes to many steps to get to the same result and needs allot of thinking to get there. Also rendering is slow. - Mar 28 2007

Iphone GDM theme

GDM Themes by paullinux 14 comments

Most of the work on this theme has been made on a ImacG5 (osx). So yes I'm a bit biased in my choice of products...

I've tried not to use photoshop on this theme. But using Gimp is not as easy. Although 90% is Gimp, some things just could not be done without Photoshop. So using solely my Ubuntu_laptop was a goal I could not meet...

It is actually very simple to change the wallpaper and window-background. Just download and unpack the 'tar gz'-file on your desktop. Look for the pictures in the file, put your own in under the same name, repack and install as GDM-theme. Just don't forget to mention the original author(s) if you decide to upload them. - Jul 22 2006
