thanks, I will look into the issue. - 5 hours ago
Remember, I'm not easily convinced. I may make several test-versions before presenting something final. Time is of the essence. - Jun 29 2020
Ya, why take the easy way, if there is a so more chalenging difficult path to pursue. Sorry for ranting yesterday. And yes, I do remember you now. Alright, just tell we which theme you'd like me to port. And I will try to give it a shot. - Jun 29 2020
Just installed the latest Manjaro XFCE in virtualbox. Although they've ported many to GTK3, it still surprises me that they still choose to hang on to QT or GTK2-applications. This is exactly the reason why it is still a horrendous undertaking, trying to make a consistent theme. GTK2 is not advanced enough to make it as good a GTK3, and QT is.. well unthemable, or you have to use the GTK2-version of the theme. And even then, it just looks bad.

Themingwise, I would prefer XFCE using only GTK3 applications. Then, it would be easier and more consistent.

Existing themes on XFCE are (and that my personal opinion) plain, boxy, old fashioned and the UI is still very 90's. I mean: a titlebar, a menubar and a toolbar and let's throw another bottom-toolbar in it. That is what the 'modern' thunar looks like. Too much real estate. But that is my opinion. I'm not an advocate for Gnome-DE, I just like the consistency and the minimal use of headers in their UI.
About my name, well PaulXFCE is indeed not well choosen... - Jun 27 2020
True, basically because XFCE still uses an outdated xfwm. You need to remake every graphical element.
I've been a themer since 2007. So I am getting tired redoing everything for every DE. - Jun 22 2020
Open your software-center and search for 'folder-color'. It's an extension for nautilus which allows you to change the folder-color in the right-click-menu is you select a folder. You need to have an icon-theme that supports colored folders. Most good icon-themes do. - Jun 22 2020
I have tried black. But is very difficult to distinguish between the rest of the UI - Jun 22 2020
You should know that I spend an obscene amount of time on finding the right colors. - Jun 22 2020
Would you like to continue This conversation somewhere else? If so, where? - Jun 21 2020

Looking trough your comments I guess you're a theme hopper. Never wanted to make one yourself? - Jun 21 2020

I do not really like dark themes. They may look great, but I can not stand them for long. To much strain on my eyes.

But, you know, for this moment, dark themes are 'the new norm' . So I give them what they want. But I do not use them myself... - Jun 21 2020

True, This theme is unuseable in 200% scaling. It scales nicely between 0.92 to 1.25 (or using fontsize between 9 and 13 points). Using REM instead of pixels on certain elements the size of the headerbar is relative, not fixed. But when you push it to 200% automatic scaling occurs. And this conflicts with multivan settings. - Jun 18 2020

I've also added 3 more variants of the theme - Jun 08 2020

Actually, it just follows the font and fontsize you use for the general UI.

Or just change the very first code in the gnome-shell.css to this:

stage {font-size: 9.75pt;font-weight: 400;color: #e1e1e1;}
- Jun 11 2020
This issue is an unfortunate side-effect of the way fontrendering in this theme is amplified with adding shadow around the letters. In Transmission and Virtual-manager this leads (for some reason) double shadow on the letters, making them hard to read when hovering over them. I've not yet found a solution yet. - May 30 2020
The bug is already filed at the developers, so they know the issue exists. They've not yet implemented a solution - May 30 2020
I would like to add, that it is for the developers of gnome-tweak to resolve the bug. The hack is..well just a hack. - May 29 2020
There is a hack: add this in the gtk.css file :

.tweak-titlebar-left{font-size: 0;min-width: 200px;}

This essentially makes the left-pane fixed at 200px wide and removes the 'tweak'-word in the top-left-titlebar. In this situation -having the titlebuttons on the left - the issue is no longer present. - May 29 2020
Thanks, I cannot not reproduce the error. I use Manjaro-gnome. The error is only present with Tweak-tool, when having the titlebuttons on the left-side. Resizing the Tweak-window to make it larger solves the 'issue'. Other themes have some sort of the same issue with tweak-tool with title buttons on the left. But I will try to find a fix. - May 29 2020
please, provide me a screenshot of the issue. Virt-manager seems to use GTK3, but I run into allot of warning of things-not-installed. I d not want to go trough the works, though. I'll try to find out with the screenshot you provide - May 29 2020
will be fixed in next version - May 29 2020
please, what application do you mean with virtual manager?
- May 29 2020
True, as much as I would like, it conflicts with the use of REM for determining the size of the buttons. When setting the font f.ex. to 9pt. The buttons are so small that the dots make the textbuttons unreadable. - May 20 2020
Yaru and Adwaita are part of the default themes for snap-packages. Gnome-Prof is not. That is why, when using my theme, it defaults to Adwaita - May 17 2020
Ubuntu uses snap, not flatpak. So the command is useless... My fault. - May 17 2020
Ubuntu increasingly use snaps if you download something from the Ubuntu-software-center.
This unfortunately means that they do not follow the theme.
So some app's that are snaps use the default adwaita theme.
For example the Ubuntu-software-center is a snap-package and thus uses Adwaita, instead of Gnome-Prof-theme.
The only (easy) solution is to avoid snap-packages and find their versions in the repositories.

Unfortunately I did not yet make the CSS code for Nemo. Gnome only for now. - May 16 2020
There is no support for the mate desktop. For the moment it is gnome only - May 16 2020
thanks!
Tried Wayfire, but the blur (which I long for) is simply to resourceful and thus very slow. This is a bummer... - May 15 2020
For ubuntu-users complaining about Ubuntu-software-center not applying the theme: this is because the Software-center is a flatpak, not a deb. For flatpaks use this command:
sudo flatpak override --filesystem=~/.themes
Next, make sure the theme-file is situated under the '.themes'-folder.
Then, open gnome tweak tool (you might need to install it first), and choose the Gnome-Prof-theme to your liking. Now flatpaks will follow the theme. - May 15 2020

Deliberately, because Tweak has a bug when moving the buttons to the left. This rzmoval of the title is juist a hack until the developers come up with a solution - Jun 09 2020
If you choose to go for the smaller titlebar (not using system titlebar and border) the font is normal. But I will look into it... - Jun 09 2020
