A glimpse of the future?

Yes, but it doesn't really show any difference (at least not for my desktop icons). I think it has to do with the fact that I am using an absurdly high resolution.

Working with different transparence settings actually shows nicer results. I'm using 95% on active windows, 80% on inactive ones and 50% on miving windows.

In this way I can always 'see' hidden windows, but readability is just fine on the active window. Of course if you stack a lot of inactive windows, readability for those is plain gone. - Nov 03 2004

I agree with you that in general, transparency does not improve on readablity. Actually, I would never use transparency on ALL windows, but I can imagine some situations in which it would make sense to have some windows transparent.

I fixed my icons, but it does not make much difference on an LCD, unless I really increase their size. - Nov 02 2004
