I think I need to blame serenity windeco for making kwin crash.

How to reproduce: find any window. Go to the menu on the application logo / the themed menu icon.
Advanced => No Border.

And now kwin explodes. Happens only with serenity windeco of the ones I have tested.

I hacked the build system to get buttons.h built at build time instead of using a preshipped one.

It at least have been drastically removed. with 1.0.3 I couldn't run kicker with tastymenu for a day without having kicker eat up all my memory.

With 1.0.4 it has now been running for days and doesn't really show up in top.

Hi!

I can't seem to find the sources for buttons.h (it is generated by some pics according to create_buttons.sh, but these pics aren't shipped. And uic doesn't generate endian-safe files (so powerpc builds will be kind of screwed up here)

All the files generated from the .ui files does also seem to be already in the tarball and not regenerated on build time - isn't that also a problem?

Why not just ship a override file in your package - like 20_debian_globe with appropriate content?

THis way you work with the infrastructure instead of hacking around it.

I might mean the beos/b2 style. It was kind of cool. I put a virtual vote on 'please get it back'

The packages can in debian easiest be obtained by apt-get -t experimental install kde-style-serenity kwin-style-serenity

alternatively, the packages can be found on http://ftp.XX.debian.org/debian/pool/main/k/kde-style-serenity/
where XX fits a two-letter abbrevation for your country, eg. de for Germany and us for USA

It is now possible (and have been for osme days) to download serenity in debian off debian experimental. It will be available from unstable (same packages) when debian etch is released.

in order to be able to help, please be sure to provide the follewing informations:
distribution and version (eg. debian sid or ubuntu breezy)
kde version (eg. 3.4.3 or 3.5)
how you installed dekorator (eg. binary packages, built self from source, ...)
- if binary package, where did you find this package.

and what you excactly did to make it fail.

and backtraces are often useful for developers. kcrash should providing a backtrace.

add
deb http://mirror.pusling.com/debian/unstable/ ./

to your sources.list and then
'apt-get install kwin-style-dekorator'

The two debs provided on the link, one of them got no dependencies at all, the other one got dependencies impossible to fulfill.

The one withouth dependencies could be for any version, and right now there is incompability between debian sarge, debian etch and debian sid, so the dependencies are very importiant.

The other .deb is depending on kdelibs4 >= 4:3.4.2, which no longer exist.

I might soon be providing working pacckages for debian unstable, if there is a public demand ;) - Dec 29 2005

I try to build it on debian unstable. it fails with ld not beeing able to find -lXext When I run ./configure and in the Makefile in src, adds $(X_LDFLAGS) to line 372 everything works: 372 kchmviewer_LDFLAGS = $(QT_LDFLAGS) $(KDE_LDFLAGS) $(X_LDFLAGS) adding $(X_LDFLAGS) to the same line in Makefile.am breaks everything because of different automakeversions. If I get building to work without manually interact in the Makefile, I might add it to mirror.pusling.com - a extrarepo for debian unstable. - Oct 23 2005
