I definitely agree though, that the current yellow popup is no good and should be killed away. - Mar 04 2005

You can do much more with rectangular buttons than the current one.
(at least, you could if the button would be skinnable (and with that I don't mean those ugly programmer art backgrounds)) - Apr 07 2004

I'm not interested in visiting a holy religious whatever site.
I'm leaving this place.
Thanks to Frank for making this a great place initially, too bad a few of these fools had to do this. - Oct 07 2003

It seems that there's no 'Icons' section in my kdeglobals file, which results in osXBarCfg (@getKDEConfigValue) returning -1 and therefore making Python tell it cannot concatenate str + int.
---
few minutes later:
Allrighty, it works!
But it takes a lot of CPU, and there's a lot of X-es, and there's no 'Trash' directory on my system.
(please keep in mind users can change the name of that directory) - Sep 29 2003

There used to be some way to make them all nice and behaving like real and smooth drop shadows, but the currently (at least, in my cvs version) there's only one 'option', and that's this silly outline.

Who's talking about Windows here?
I don't, you do.
>> actually you didn't say any reason
Let me say it like this: adding options for everything that *could* be usable for once at some day is not worth it to add an option for.
And if options like these are allowed, more and more people will ask for such options, and the final run dialog will have at least 20 check boxes, 10 input fields, 6 push buttons and 4 combo boxes.
Well, that's nice.. - Sep 07 2003

Some time ago, I've shown a screenshot somewhere here at kde-look.org, showing an improved minipager (looks of it)..
I wanted to post a patch for that, but I decided to drastically improve the whole panel instead.
So if you can wait a few more weeks (or so) for my mega-patch, you'll be able to theme the panel the way you like it.
(ie. not just adjustable background images, you can can modify _everything_, even having a different shape for the panel would be one of the possibilities :) - some other things fixed by this patch is the backgrounds of panel applets, they all use the correct backgrounds) - Sep 03 2003

Voila -> smooth edges. - Aug 27 2003
But it's missing a smaller size caption for toolbar windows.
To see what I mean, install Metacity (yeah, a Gnome WM ;) -> execute metacity-window-demo (under KDE/KWin, not GNOME/Metacity) -> select 'Toolbar' from the menu.
When using a Qt style like the Windows one, you'll see the window from the example above having a small caption.
With this style, it doesn't.
Would be nice if Knifty would get support for these small captions because these are going to be used in KDE as well (somewhere in the future, see KWin docs)
Also, would it be possible to hide those rounded corners when having a maximized window?
(just making it straight so it doesn't look like there's some dead pixels up there in the screen corners :) - Aug 21 2003
Comboboxes in general and the box with the up/down arrows.
I've also noticed some arrows are one pixel off, would be nice if they could be placed one pixel to the right (see the left pointing arrow buttons, including those on the up/down arrow boxes).
Here's a modified screenshot:

Qt-only programs do display them with some styles, KDE programs mostly don't (even when using the same Qt styles).
..
After doing some more research it looks like someone removed them from somewhere else (ie. not the themes - maybe in the kde ktoolbar and related code or so, haven't checked that out yet), and if that's true, it's a very very (may I say worse!) bad way to fix a 'bug'.
Things like that should never be allowed in a project of this size (KDE isn't just some toy anymore).
I wouldn't be surprised because the last few days I've already seen a countless number of issues in KDE code where things are actually just hacked in or away to make things conform to the preferences of one single author (or perhaps those 2 people out there).
I hope you'll agree with me that this is just plain bad.
If there are more than 2 people on this planet who don't like those seperators it should be solved differently, without hacking.
And by the way, I agree with you that the standard toolbar separators from the KDE themes are ugly, but I'm sure this guy (from the style on this page) can make them look nice and actually make it some wanted eye candy :)
And another by the way, I'm sure there are going to be some people around telling me to fix those many issues myself, but I'm already doing that so don't even mention it.
(unfortunately it takes quite some time, so you won't see these monster patches coming up soon) - Aug 21 2003
And if possible, could they be added into this style?
(the one who removed those should be castrated with a trout because it makes things much worse - it's like removing the separators from popup menus, you won't have a clear visual overview of the items anymore) - Aug 21 2003
This is really what KDE needs, a _clean_ default style while still having the necessary eye candy, it rocks :)
(I don't really like the combo boxes though, looks a bit weird.. like it doesn't really fit together) - Aug 21 2003
