I am having the same connection problem, I have tried several other locations but I get the same thing from all of them. Weather.com must have changed there webpage, have you considered trying to get weather from Accuweather.com, I have a feeling they don't change there page as often.

I would use the BBC but it doesnt' properly get the current conditions. - Oct 15 2003

No, I am not running through a proxy. My results basically say that it cannot connect to the site, I had the same thing happen about 3 weeks ago and it was a problem with the program reading the html...we finally got it straightened out. Now it appears that a similiar problem has resurfaced. Like I said, I also use a similiar program in windows and it is suffering from the same thing, so there is something in the HTML that is causing problems. - Sep 25 2003

Anybody else having any problems connecting. I have a good internet connection, but for some reason I am not able to connect with this program or the one I use for WinDoze....Maybe they have slightly changed there html coding. The sat Image is not always shown. This happens especially after an update, I get the default image that states that it cannont be done. However, if I manually change the zip code (i.e. changing the location) to the same place then it will reappear. I haven't checked yet to see if maybe it isnt' downloading or something..just thought I would let you know. - Sep 12 2003

Yeah, I also like this...it is very simple but functional. Some things I changed...

1.) I had to change the pause to play also, because it wouldnt' work.
2.) I actucally changed the entire play command to "xmms -p", that was if XMMS wasn't started it would start up and begin playing.
3.) Had to change the font and size, it was very small on a 1024x768 display.

Also, how do you go about making the song title scroll, or can it be done. In your theme you have a MOVE and a MAXMOVE, I thought it had something to do with that, but I wasn't sure. - Sep 11 2003

I have found an icon that is not present in the folders, I have temporarily added it using one of the other ones. It is icon #47 (47.png). It is for isolated t-storms, but is completely different from some of the ones that are available. Here is a link to it on the weather.com website...

I just upgraded to the newest version and found that it doesn't work anymore if the wind is calm. Not to sure what happened, but it is doing the same thing it did last time. If I go into the html file and manuall add the "at" then it does fine (calm at  ). Just thought I would let you know... - Aug 29 2003

Ok, after it is started up and running, right click on it. Go to configure theme and then click on "Use Metric Units (Celsius)", and that should be it. Hope that helps. - Aug 25 2003

After a little more studying I found that the problem lies in that line, not necessarily in the mph, because if I remove it then it still works. You will have to play with it some more or I would have to spend a while explaining it, but that line is the cause of the problem. - Aug 25 2003

Ok, I have figured out both of my problems.

1.) With the image not appearing. I found that the image that was supposed to show up was 47.gif, I went to the diretory for both small and large images and found it nowhere. I found a 37.gif which stood for the exact same thing, so I copied and pasted and just renamed to 47.gif, and it worked great.

2.) The second problem is not so easy. I have tested this by not being connected to the internet and manually altering the HTML page and testing. One way works perfectly, and the other not (i.e. gave me errors and wouldn't start). Now I have never dealt with python so I have no way to fix this. But here are two examples showing when it works adn when it doesn't, from the html file.

NOT WORKING
[TD ALIGN=LEFT VALIGN=TOP CLASS=obsInfo1]Wind:[/TD]
[TD ALIGN=LEFT VALIGN=TOP CLASS=obsInfo2]calm [/TD]

WORKING
[TD ALIGN=LEFT VALIGN=TOP CLASS=obsInfo1]Wind:[/TD]
[TD ALIGN=LEFT VALIGN=TOP CLASS=obsInfo2]From the Northeast at 6 mph[/TD]

I had to use brackets instead of the side-ways V's. Anyways, notice anything different. The second one (working) has mph included at the end. I believe the program is not seeing that when it is calm or no wind and messing everything up. After changing an example page with just this one thing it worked great. UPDATE:
Now, it is working in my area (31211) but if I try (33592) it doesn't work, whereas earlier it was just the opposite...so I still believe there is something in the code that is not parsing some of the files html files correctly. Also, on mine now one of the icons is not showing up and I get the following error

This is great, I really like this one. And I would love it if you could have the ability to change from 24-Hour clock to a 12-Hour clock. Also, I did have to edit theme slightly because the text would not fit correctly on the LCD and line up as it should. But, all in all, a great app. Now, if I could only get the weather one to work right...I need to learn some Python. - Aug 24 2003

Ok, I just downloaded the newest version and I again cannot get the weather in my area using weather.com. I have tried both my zip (31211) and my code (USGA0346), in both cases I get the error that it cannont connect to the website. Now, I feel this is something that alot of US users will face eventually becuase this worked fine for me yesterday up until about 6:00 or 7:00 PM (EST) last night. Ever since then it won't work.

Like I stated earlier I am able to get weather from some locations and some I'm not, which leads me to believe there are slight differences in the web pages.

I am currently using my bbc weather now (0457), however it is not properly retrieving my current conditions. Everything else seems to be working fine.

If either one of these can be solved that would be great, I would love to continue using this application. - Aug 24 2003

I have tried changing that bit of code and it doesn't work for me. I live in Macon (31211) and I have tried my zip and the code USGA0346, and neither will work. After I change the location and restart it doesnt' change and says in the console it can't connect. If I quit and restart I get this...
