Yes indeed! I forgot all that. So this is something you've succeeded to implement already (this might show that I'm completely ignorant on this matter, assuming that it's simply a matter of copying & pasting a couple of lines ;-)

Anyway, thanks for reminding, I think MediterraneanTribute Blue is also very very nice :-)

Regarding Medit, I just hope that one day all GTK2 applications will have migrated to GTK3 ;-)

Regarding sidebar bgcolors, I think I can find an approximate color for Thunderbird for the time being.

Regarding Synaptic toolbar bgcolor, thank you very much for the tip! I hope it works with Faience and Greybird, my favorite silver-grey themes, until you can also include a silver-grey version in this fantastic set of yours ;-) - Jun 21 2013

I'm glad that your eyes are better now and wish it never occurs again.

For me the only issue remaining in this marvelous theme is the toolbar bgcolor in my favorite text editor, medit.

I also would like to ask something if possible: 1) nautilus sidebar bgcolor codes in dark, light and white versions so that I can use the same in Thunderbird. 2) if you would be willing to reveal a "trade secret"; how you manage to produce a uniform toolbar bgcolor in the new synaptic while all other themes (e.g. Faience) fail in this ;-) - Jun 21 2013

Wow, fantastic now :-)
Again the solution was installing the themes to user directory, i.e. under ~/.themes

After this, the remaining issues are only:

1) Toolbar bgcolor not matching titlebar bgcolor ONLY in AmbiancePDark themes and not in AmbiancePNight or RadianceP themes

2) Synaptic toolbar (perhaps makers of Greybird and MediterraneanNight themes which don't have this problem might be willing to share their secret ;-) - May 25 2013

This is probably a different issue, and you can perhaps try re-login or removing the theme from /usr/share/themes and installing it under ~/.themes instead. For instance, RadiancePMetal only works when installed in my user directory for some strange reason I'm yet to discover. - May 24 2013

Thanks a lot for these great improvements.

But I wonder why I still have Orange selection color, etc. in Blue variants although your screenshots look OK.

And a few remaining issues:

1) Grey toolbar bgcolor in medit, etc. (gtk2 apps?) in AmbianceP themes, although RadianceP themes don't have this problem.

2) Incomplete Synaptic toolbar bgcolor in all themes.

3) Making Chrome/Chromium tabbar bgcolor sames as titlebar without applying a special theme. - May 23 2013

Sorry, I've just discovered that almost all of the problems I've seen disappear after re-login, which is also strange because we don't normally need to re-login to change theme.

AmbiancePDark looks perfect now!
I hope you can also do a Blue version (e.g. AmbiancePDarkBlue ?) with Blue close button, blue selection background, etc, like the old Ambiance Blue theme. - May 03 2013

I've tried the new versions in Ubuntu 13.04. The best working one is RadiancePMetal (based on Faience?), the only problem being a minor issue in the Synaptic toolbar, which also exists in Faience (but not in Greybird, for example).

Almost all the others had a number of serious problems in my system. For example, AmbiancePDark menus are completely invisible, even hover/selection items (also, blue unity panel doesn't go well with the rest especially when apps are maximized).

Another good one --with very few problems-- is RadiancePCalm. I only encountered a weird problem in the Tools menu of several applications (most menu items there were invisible). And I would also like to suggest that Ambiance/Radiance buttons and orange color doesn't look like a good match for the main green color in this theme. - May 03 2013

This has been my favorite one recently -- although I don't like the non-matching toolbar bgcolor of my favorite text editor medit (probably because it's a GTK2 app?).

1) It seems the original Clear Weather is no longer maintained/updated and unusable. So it would be very nice if you could also make an English version for all.
2) The screenlet cannot be moved on desktop using mouse although one can do this by changing X/Y position values in the Properties. - Apr 29 2013

I think what this excellent theme pack needs most at the moment is: having the same toolbar background in GTK2 apps (Synaptic, Medit, etc.) which also applies to Java apps (Jedit, etc.). - Apr 04 2013
AmbianceP

GTK3 Themes by pbaldino 54 comments

To help improve this great theme pack, I'd like to make the following suggestions for RadiancePMetal, my favorite one:

1) Adding a little more space to the right of title bar buttons as a couple of pixels are cut off from the right edges of prelight & pressed buttons.

2) Making the background of title bar buttons the same as the rest of title bar as it is now a much lighter shade of grey.

3) Making the background of menu bar the same as the title bar as it is now a much lighter shade of grey (as above).

4) Synaptic Package Manager toolbar background color is white in the Quick filter area as well as the blank area on the right.

5) Google Chrome/Chromium tab bar background color should also be the same as title bar and it shouldn't be necessary to use a special theme for this.

Also, I think it might be good idea to split this project into two as AmbianceP and RadianceP.

Thanks once again for this nice work. - Apr 04 2013

Very strange indeed. I use Ubuntu 12.10 and Nautilus 3.6. I checked folder and file permissions one by one; they're all rw-r-r.

Interesting puzzle for me; I'll try to solve it for fun ;-) - Apr 04 2013

1) I use Gnome Tweak Tool to change the theme.
2) RadiancePMetal is the only one that "doesn't work".
3) Actually, it seems metacity is OK, but probably the problem with GTK theme is invisible (white) text, e.g. can't see the text in Gnome Tweak Panel, Nautilus window, etc. - Apr 03 2013

I find making Thunderbird main window toolbar compatible with gnome themes very tiresome. Although compose window fits in automatically, I have to use ~/.tunderbird/profile/chrome/UserChrome.css to make the main window toolbar look like others (also to make foldertree look like nautilus sidebar).
I couldn't yet achieve a satisfactory result. I have these lines in that file:
Quote:#toolbar, toolbox, .tabbrowser-tabs {
background-color: #606060 !important;
}
#msgHeaderView {
background-color: #606060 !important;
}
#folderTree treechildren {
background-color: #afb8bf !important;
}
I wonder if you can suggest a better solution?
Or is it because of some imperfection in gtk2 component of the theme?
I also have a similar toolbar background problem with my favorite text editor: medit - Feb 15 2013

It looks good under Under Ubuntu 12.10 as well, but checkbox and radio buttons seem a bit too big (e.g. unity top panel menus)

I display file sizes below filenames, but I think it would look better if filenames were black and file sizes grey, and not vice versa.

How about some hover effect in Nautilus sidebar?

This is the code I've found somewhere I don't remember now - it might require a little modification with pre-defined colors:

Quote:NautilusWindow .sidebar row:hover {
background-color: shade (@sidebar_selected_bg_color, 1.1);
color: shade (@sidebar_fg_color, 1.1);
text-shadow: 1px 1px shade (@theme_bg_color, 1.1);

In view of the large number of MediterraneanNight themes, I've written a simple script to quickly make necessary changes in all of them for my system configuration, i.e. Ubuntu Unity with Nautilus 3.4 Patched (http://www.webupd8.org/2012/08/install-solusos-patched-nautilus-in-ubuntu-1204.html).

I wish you could give Nautilus 3.4 the same looks as 3.6 ;-)

You know I'm talking about a smooth and seamless integration between titlebar and path/toolbar which can be seen in your screenshots and not on my screen because I use Nautilus 3.4 ;-)

I'd happily upgrade if they didn't remove support for Nautilus actions, scripts and dual-pane mode, etc. - Feb 07 2013
Probably... On second thought, I think I will also prefer using the original city name instead of the code :-) - Jan 19 2013
OK, thanks...
BTW you can also have conkyforecast automatically insert the Location Name by inserting a code like this, which is for Istanbul:
${execi 3 conkyForecast --config=~/.conky/conkyForecast-TUXX0014.config --location=TUXX0014 --datatype=CN} - Jan 18 2013
Good work.
I need to adapt it to my screen (1280x1024) though.
Regarding the dual conky weather;
I think there's a typo: a letter "y" immediately before the current temperature in both cities.
I also get "Unknown template option" error messages in terminal for "use_spacer right" and "use_spacer left" values in template files. - Jan 17 2013

In Nautilus you can split the browser window into 2 panes (e.g. by pressing F3) that is if you refuse to upgrade to the new version 3.6 because you don't want to give up some features like this.

For instance, Greybird theme includes the following for this purpose:
