post away :)
there is no limit or license with these at all, do what you want, I wouldn't mind seeing what you did with it.
I am going to make one blue, one yellow also and upload those, I'm curious to see how they will look like myself now with the ooze different colors I will make the title the same color to match also, I'm taking padsters advice also and try to make the title stand out more also, I still want to make it engraved as part of the metal backing but hopefully it'll work out :).
I was thinking of making the scrollbar as an old rack and have bill gates stretch and shrink on it as a joke but I have a feeling I'll get in trouble for that one so I'll come up with something else instead :) lol - Sep 09 2010

no need to apologize I like your suggestion a lot :)
it is hard to read the title, I made it way to subtle, even the wife says so lol.
I'm gona work on the colors to see if I can make it look more engraved into the metal instead and make it stand out more also, I'll also make the ooze blue and one as yellow for the green hater lol
Plus Im curious to see how it will look now with those colors :)
and oops I called it oldmedalsam it should be oldmetalsam I'll change that right now :) - Sep 08 2010

Howdy psycholinuxuser lol
you still hate green I see lol.
I was trying to make it look like some biohazard ooze flowing through the tubes, plus green and browns/oranges work good together, I was thinking blue instead which might work better actually because of the contrast as they are opposite colors I might try that to see how it looks but then it would take the biohazard ooze out of the equation :(
I have the gimp files still for the green buttons for the oldsam theme if you want them to change them around.
Let me know and I'll put them on the oldsam theme as a download, they are bigger as I mentioned I do all the artwork bigger than shrink them down but it might be easier for you to switch them over to yellow.
Let me know :)
I am making a new website so hopefully I can get all the gimp files over there as downloads soon, Im still playing with the theme for the site right now its ugly lol. - Sep 08 2010

cool :) thanks for the code
I'll be fooling around with that one
Thanks again :)
now if I can sort out that gtk issue with the menubar I would be a happy man :)
I'll have to do some experimenting and research, hopefully I can find an answer, if I do it should work for all inactive states in the gtk as well, which would make it perfect to match the metacity framing.
If you ever see an answer for this problem please let me know :) - Sep 08 2010

Oh I forgot to add about the title also.
I was trying to make the title look like it was impressed into the metal look, thats why I added the highlight (subtly) pointing bottom right and the shadow top left, I should move the shadow just a hair up though its too level with the top of the title, it should be just above it instead. and maybe a tint lighter, it might be too dark on mine., the bottom highlight on mine should be fine enough though I tried a lighter shade on the highlight and it stood out way to much :(. - Sep 08 2010

wow you can sure read the title now :)
looks good.
I just like that font I use, its been one of my favorites for a couple years now.
I guess I can change the color of the center to a brighter orange but I was trying to make it subtle, maybe too subtle eh? :O
I'll fool around with some brighter colors and see how it looks.
Thanks for pointing that out :) - Sep 08 2010

Thanks for the comments Padster.
I don't know why I always add ubuntu, I guess its because I use it and I know it works on it, but it should work on all the rest of the linux versions as well, I'll change that in the future :)
Hopefully I can get the gtk to work as I have in mind and the artwork to work as I want as well, I tried 3 different buttons on the metacity but there was so much detail it all got lost when I shrunk them down :(.
I do the artwork at about 100 to 200 pixels high then shrink them down so what looks great at a big size looks like a blob when I shrink it down.
I might add all the gimp files when this one is complete as well so everyone can fool around with them. - Sep 08 2010

Inactive menubar to match the inactive titlebar question:
also if anyone knows how to make a menubar as an inactive image (different from the normal image) in the gtk please let me know, I wouldn't mind matching the menubar tones in the inactive state and normal state.
I tried all the states allowed as far as NORMAL, INSENSITIVE etc etc but none work so far.
Thanks in advance.

Metacity Themes by samriggs 10 comments

Thanks for the comments, I seen that in your image, I didn't totally finish the theme yet, as I moved onto another one I wanted to design. Hopefully I will get the new one finished soon and finish this one off totally, including those lines you were talking about, I also want to get rid of the white box when it loads a page in the bottom taskbar and change it to a alpha grad. I am also going to make an icon theme to go with this one and the new one.
Hopefully I'll have all of it finished soon :)
Thanks again for pointing out that white line it never showed up on mine. - Aug 27 2010

Thanks, I am still working on it and there will be more changes to it until I get it like I want it, I'll upload the new ones as I get them done, I think I'll take a break from this and do a wallpaper for it next and upload that next. - Aug 16 2010

all you have to do is go into the metacity folder get the buttons, bring them into gimp use the magic wand to highlight the green and change it to yellow instead.
This was just an experiment I did for tiling, I am currently working on a medieval theme you'll probably like better, I knocked out some of the images so it makes everything fit better, the metacity theme is complete I am working on the gtk file now, which I am using a lot of pixmaps instead of murrine gtk I am using the ubuntulooks engine instead.
Once I get this done I'll upload without the icons package I will make for it later on. Maybe I'll upload the metacity file tonight with the gtk to let you have a look and add the gtk after I'm finished it. - Aug 10 2010

Metacity Themes by samriggs 8 comments

I just started a month ago myself but I used to program quite a bit in C, C++, PHP and a few other languages, there all pretty much the same once you know one.
Maybe I'll put up a tutorial soon for metacity that goes into the areas that the main tutorial does not show you too much about, like tiling and placing images and how to figure out the math where to place theme etc etc.
I know I could of used it and I only found the small tutorial that was in your theme that Isiah showed in tiling. The rest I figured out on my own.
I'll add a link when I get it done. :) - Jul 28 2010

Thanks Padster
I was going to use this one for my theme but it didn't turn out like I wanted it to so I put it up for others to fool around with. I started another one with a medeval theme to it and hopefully it will work out.
As far as the sides go treat them the same as the titlebar for images and tiling, example, if you wanted a image to stay halfway on the sidebar and not be tiled it would be something like this:
<image filename="side_image.png" height="height" width="object_width" x="0" y="(height + object_height) /2" />
that way you get the total height plus the image height divide it by 2 or half and it should go in the middle no matter what.
I might be off I'm a bit tired but it should be something like that.
Glad you enjoy it.
Aslo a workaround I'm working on for the new theme when there is too many images like this one and the title is long and knocks out some of the images, place the image on the right last in the xml in order. they hopefully will knock out part of the title and show the image instead, I haven't tested this yet but it should work, the metacity xml file works like C programming in that way that the last thing takes over the one above it (as far as images go), or if you not familar with C then think layers, the last one written would be in front.
Hopefully this can fix the bug of the right images going away in smaller windows. - Jul 27 2010

It was your theme I started with Padster, extremely nice by the way, I was looking for a tiled image solution for the crux theme and couldn't find one so I chose yours to use instead and went from there.
I never wrote one before so I needed some help, Thanks for making that theme, you solved my biggest herdle.
Glad you liked the mods I added to it :) - Jul 14 2010
