perhaps a bug report form we can use to send feedbacks?

problem now is that bugs.kde.org requires an account and i'm sure a lot of people arent reporting problems because they don't feel like registering.

automatic spell check would be most useful when it come to writing documents on latex. kile is a kde app that uses kate as its editor component. if this option can be enabled like a plugin or part of kate-plugins, then it would be most useful. there are already a lot of requests of this in bugs.kde.org. - Jan 22 2005

excellent. very nice patch.

i think having a contest would be a great idea. perhaps some incentive like a kde-look/kde t-shirt of some sort.

someone can announce the theme contest on slashdot and get the word out. then i'm sure there'll be even more interesting ideas and submissions pouring into this site. - Dec 25 2004

lokheed. you're completely right about people having the right to choose different styles, deco, etc, and i'm not asking that to be taken away, hell no.

this may not be correct "solution", but i just think the current keramik win deco takes up way too much screen space by default.

how will this benifit kde? since kde is now *the* desktop environment and has matured so much, i think it'll be a good idea to have something look a lot more professional. The styles for the most part are ok, but most dont resemble that "professional" edge. I hope I'm not offending any users or designers here because I appreciate all their hard work.

The main thing is that the default theme(s) should be included in the official kde release (maybe some other or most probably not this one because i see that no one here likes it :).

Lot of the ones that come with the packages arent useable.
I dont think anyone here uses the CDE, system++, or the laptop window decoration here. so something needs to be done in the packaging. The first-time user is not going to know where to download themes. The sys admin may have set limited disk quota making it hard for users to install their own themes. If it's listed in the control center, looks nice, and doesnt hog up memory, then they'll use them.

To remove menu items (file, tools, help, etc):

To customize toolbar buttons:
view -> toolbars -> customize

Replace the first 2 lines in your Makefile.am file (located in the src directory) with:

# set the include path for X, qt and KDE
INCLUDES = $(all_includes) -I `imlib2-config --cflags`

Then it should work (on debian unstable).

Or you can wait for the 0.4.2 release, which should be out fairly soon. - Aug 24 2004

I've been talking to the author too. Here's the solution he gave me to the compile problems:

line 35 in ./src/komposefullscreenwidget.cpp


Insert the following lines instead of
" setWindowState(Qt::WindowMaximized | Qt::WindowActive);
showFullScreen();"

use

" showMaximized();

totally agree with you.
few months ago he posted multiple screenshots of his icon theme but with nothing to download. whenever somebody posted crystal set icons in kde-look.org he would basically bitch at them.

i even told him in his comments that there's nothing wrong posting it since in fact he never DID actually submit anything concrete in the first place. then i started getting email messages from the guy with the bodies saying "fucky you" all the time.

and the 'i'll sue you' thing is just plain stupid

my conclusion? yeah he's gay ;-)

excellent, but unfortunately i tried to install the theme and ran into the same problems...

i'm using kde3 on debian
(http://www.geniussystems.net/KDE3 Experimental/)

but i'm just not sure where i should copy the folder to.


i'm sure the guys at evera...um.. conectiva wont sue you for promoting their excellent themes and icons. they are the nicest people (who may perhaps 'nicely' ask you to remove the upload if he's unhappy) -- but i'm sure they strongly encourage our support of their lovely work and are very happy with what you've done for us and them ;-)
