yes but I figured I'd report it to find out why I had to edit the source to fix that compile error.

KIconDialog++

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by Linuster 58 comments

Ok finally got it to compile so here we go with what I had to change.
First:
kiconcanvas.cpp:121: error: 'min' is not a member of 'std'

#include
instead of
#include

Which meant I had to add -I/usr/include/c++/4.0.3/
Is this something odd with gcc4 vs gcc3 or what's the deal here? perhaps its something to do with visibility as I have that enable? -fvisibility-inlines-hidden
Tho I've not had a problem like this yet.

Next Linking errors:
cannot find -lkdecore and -lqt-mt
Add these to the LIBS var.
-L/usr/kde/3.5/lib/ -L/usr/qt/3/lib/

And there you have it .. now to see if this thing works! :D - May 29 2006

Ok, understandable.
How is it tho that when I use svn://username@server/path I don't get prompted for a password?

it seems the only way currently I can commit changes is by using svn+ssh

This a problem with how I have subversion setup or ? - May 26 2006

Then browse to that new directory. Every file is listed twice.

kdesvn

Developers Apps by alwin 175 comments

I can checkout using svn.
however every time I try to open it with kdesvn I get connection closed unexpectedly.

so I started it from the command line and what do I see?

Password:

so I type it in hit enter and Wow.. it works! had to type it in 3 times for some reason.. but it worked.

My question now is.. Why? I thought kdesvn used the API and not the command line so I guess I assumed there would be a dialog that would prompt me for my password. I also guess I assumed it would remember my password.. typing it in 3 times just to get a directory listing of 3 items is quite annoying. - May 26 2006

Wish I could help you with this one but it's one that I've never seen before.
I do know 1 thing for sure tho and it's not kdmtheme that's causing it.
All kdmtheme is, is a frontend for 1 variable in the main KDM config file.

I might be able to tell you more if I knew what that error message was? - May 02 2006

Sorry about that. forgot to check my links. Would have fixed it earlier but don't have too much time anymore.

I don't like having a trailing ".0" unless it's in the minor position such as 1.0 or 2.0 etc.
1.0.0 just seems silly to me and it'd be odd IMO to have 1.1.0 if I didn't have 1.0.0.

This is actually a KDM Option.

I thought I remembered seeing an option for this in the KDM config however I don't see it any more.

kmenu idea

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by smileaf 8 comments

"I think this would be a good improvement. I'd like a bit better visual hint for the tablike widget on the left and if possible, a fourth tab where the user can make his own selection."

Better visual: Like the amarok one when you hover over a tab into a different color. In this case it'd be the lighter blue.
Selected is the darker blue.
Normal/Unselected is the gray.

4th tab wouldn't be necessary as you can add entries into the "Quick Folders" or "Quick Directories" however you like it said. - Dec 23 2005

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by smileaf 8 comments

The "Quick folders" was just a name I choose to give to the entries you have and can create in any open and save dialogs.

In Any KDE open/save dialogs you can right click and choose "add entry" Same Idea I'd like to have here.

Extra work due to tabs:
If your like me you normally only use the most used applications section and every once in a while actually browse for a different application.
I didn't forsee me ever using the quick folders too often as I have my home directory very organized so I made a tab for that instead of putting them next to the Applications section like you'd see in the winXP's menu. The ability to have such directories listed in the menu however I've always found to be very nice. - Dec 23 2005

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by bmagera91 28 comments

While I like the windows start menu. I hate it when things seem to have to look exactly like the windows ones.
There are better ways of doing things. Ones more original.
Don't take this wrong into thinking that _nothing_ can be like the others. Such as "windows has title bars with an 'x' button to close the window.. so we can't either."
No that is not what I'm talking about. It's about taking what is good, and improving on it where possible. but by all means don't copy...

I do see the search bar at the bottom. nice attempt to be different. but how much is that going to be used? there are so many better places to put it. - Dec 23 2005

Tag: Is that for Extended Attributes? :)

Are you splitting up creation/modified dates? Today, Yesterday.
Somehow I'm not sure this will go over too well in large directories.
I'd rather it split by File type.
Images, Documents, Spreadsheets, Presentations, etc.

Why the Minimize/Maximize/Close in the panel? looks to be the title bar? If so I'd rather it not be for various reasons.

"Desktop" Is this a relative path?
As in is Desktop a directory in your Home? How would you get back to your home?
how would you get to the root? "/" ?

If the current directory is invoices
and the tabs are the directory path.
And you don't want the current directory in that tab path.
Shouldn't the last item be highlighted in green to show that the current directory shown above is in that directory.

What's that yellow thing at the bottom? - Dec 14 2005

Amarok Shouter

Amarok 1.x Scripts by jbell 98 comments

Is there any way we could have an option to stream *to* an existing shoutcast/oddcast server?
I need something that can play all file types (ogg, flac and mp3 at the very least.) can connect to at least shoutcast, oddcast might be nice tho.
I'd like it to be controlable via amarok. but at this time I'll settle for anything that will at least work.
ices/ices2 either doesn't support all 3 file types or can't be controlled via amarok or at the very least on demand playlist.
xmms crashes every time I go to try and use it's oddcast plug-in.

Also for those that can't get this running with an error of Publisher not being found.

that's actually the reason that I said that I wasn't too sure about the combo box idea.

you make a very good point about that. for me I only have 5-6 feeds and as the first post says lots of my screen is wasted.
Also how often do you switch from all feeds to a certain one?

overall tho that idea isn't too important. I might just remove it. would appear that aKregator doesn't support removing that from the view menu styles anyway. - Oct 11 2005

You might want to remember to update the version number before each release.
src/main.cpp

I noticed that it's not been updated since 2.11
was very confusing trying to figure out why 2.4 wasn't installing.

another thing that would help us is if you could rename the directory to yakuake-2.4 for example.
This helps standardize it for scripts that expect this format.

Very nice implementation! I've not tried the other variations out there and really I don't see a need to.

My only feature request is shift+left/right to change konsoles.
can't remember if this was already in the todo list. - Oct 03 2005

I've installed FC4 on a computer of mine. However it would appear that they didn't read the warnings and installed GCC4.0.0

GCC4.0.0 is known to compile KDE incorrectly and as a result has been blacklisted.

When they release a newer version of GCC package I'll hopefully be able to figure out your problem. - Sep 02 2005

I tried to do a little more work on your program however everytime I try to use a KDE widget it segfaults.

I started a new project within kdevelop and kde widgets do work there

so while I was bored without internet I had a little fun making my own little conf gui.
I got the make.conf fully done. even with a little better, IMO, parser. it handles multiple lines even without the \ at the end.

I also started to play around with a profile chooser. very much so incomplete as I have yet to figure out how to read/write a symlink and get where it points to.

USE selector needs a little more work I'd love to embed a combobox within the klistview that I have for the enabled mode.

Gotten a lot of ideas just reading the man pages. One such idea is the ability to limit the directories sync'ed

Seeing this recent update to yours I've gotten another idea. Perhaps doing some sort of a plugin system might be good for all the different extra's that can be installed. There are many config files that gentoo can use. but having all of them inside 1 project might be a little messy. So if we extended the ability to a plugin system those extras that people would use would be there for them and not be for those that'll never even want to see them.

If you'd like to take a look at mine here it is:
http://smileaf.org/files/kgentooconf2.kdevelop-0.1.tar.gz
This is that new project I started to test out the kde widgets. It's named kgentooconf2 as to not confuse it with yours.
that's 3-4 days of work. Use what you want(if you want all of it go for it!). Hopefully this'll help with ideas to make an awesome GUI config tool for us all :)

I've also tried to email you a while ago but I never got a response? - Jul 27 2005
