Updated ebuild for beta6!

Ok Suggestio + n
loose the 3 button pop-up window and replace it with either a toolbar and/or menu. more standard and far nicer IMO.

2nd suggestion:
playlist
I could careless about the features you are already planing on doing however a playlist would be one of my top priority things! When I have nothing to do I tend to open up a directory of movies and play them all 1 right after the other (very handy for short series :))
when it ends press down and the next one starts very nice!
doesn't have to be fancy or anything..
seperate window, add to playlist, remove from playlist, play, moving them around (preferably via drag and drop ;))
Only display the filename for all I care! I hardly look at the playlist I just would really like one.

Keep up the excellent work! - Jun 23 2005

I think of it this way:
Distributions compile packages, and you pick a distribution mostly based on what they offer what they support etc.

a common interface to a package management system is something that Linux lacks. As it is currently it is really difficult to go from 1 distribution to the other.
No one wants to do Tech support like that! "How do you install stuff? well what distribution do you run?.. oh I've never used that one sorry," that doesn't go very far....

I personally would like to see a project in which they provided a library which we could all use to write front-ends in all the different toolkits with a common interface - May 30 2005

"this is just a thought, but i thought this might be better organized as a tab under the current 'login manger' module in control center, instead of being it's own module. maybe integrate this into the 'appearance' tab, since this looks far superior to customizing the login manager. maybe add a 'theme' section to the 'appearance' tab under the login manager module would be cool!"

The only way this could be possible is if KDE was not installed in a place where it could find itself! to find the kdmrc file I use KDE's own functions for locating it's own files. I'll look into it however I don't have any distribution installed other than Gentoo, which means I can't test it very easily. - Apr 06 2005

Move the config button that is in the upper right hand corner to the lower corner.
Why? This would increase the available room for the file/directory name.
As it stands just about everything is displayed with ... in the center.

If possible. Why even have that button? first time I saw it I thought of the same looking button that's in the properties of a file which allows you to edit what the file type opens with.
This makes it a little confusing to new users.
surely there is a way we could have a menu someplace to access this config? If not I'd suggest to the KDE devs to add this support in.

Overall excellent addition! thank you :) - Apr 05 2005

Nope KDM was made themable in 3.4.

KDM can use the same themes made for GDM also. I have noticed however GDM themes don't make available both the username and password fields making KDM complain and also making it so you can't see what you are typing.

The reason I made this kcm was because the kdm developers made theming available however did not make a gui counterpart. - Mar 26 2005

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by smileaf 237 comments

in my example at the top on how to configure this it uses a character that is next to your 1 key.

`` is used in shell commands kinda like how () are used in math
the shell will do whatever is within the `` first.

so in effect what you are doing with the command
./configure --prefix=`kde-config --prefix`
is first finding out where you kde is installed then appending that to the command so if kde-config --prefix returns /usr/kde/3.4 then the final command issued is
./configure --prefix=/usr/kde/3.4

very handy trick :)
if you can't find that character just copy my example - Mar 24 2005
