The original graft of shadow code was just a rip off the kde menu shadow code. .

And it will NOT work, unless QT supports alphablending. The Real Alphablending (tm).
If and when qt supports the needed features we will kick our asses to get the real shadow in. - Feb 25 2003

There you'll find unofficial, uncrippled kde 3.1 packages, they work like a charm.
In my box, it was a matter of ./configure --prefix=/usr, but you may have to give additional options ...

As for wine, what I do is click on the bacground to get rid of focus in the wine window, then change desktop.
Or else, you can disable shadows ;-)

You may want to check too if file workspace.h exists in your filesystem, and where.
And finally, qt has specific options: --with-qt-dir, --with-qt-includes which may or may not help.
Please, keep in touch and post your configure/make line if you solve it. I'll save other users' time ;-) - Feb 20 2003

and if you have them installed, tell so to ./configure, using --with-extra-includes ...

However, I find the shapes (and just the shapes) to be a little too cartoonish. Take for instance the K icon: I think it's too much skewed. Also the trash bin looks like a metallized hamburger wrapper ;-). Please, don't take this for a criticism, but for what it is: a simple suggestion. - Nov 26 2002

On the other hand, you don't compile graphics, you compile code which in turn, draws graphics on your screen. Actually, this is not the whole truth, but you get the gist.
If, however, you have any other suggestions to improve this (or any) window decoration or widget style, I (and others) will be glad to hear about it. - Nov 26 2002

You'll get options editing "FEATURES.h". (This idea is stolen from the ACE version). When I have time to steal more code, I'll add it as a configurable option.
Any Volunteers for cooking up a kcm-module?

1) Transparent titleblars. Real one, not masking.
2) Drawing shadows outside windows, that is, shadows on desktop.
3) Any other suggestions to make it look macosx-ish. - Nov 05 2002

Test. Shake well. Serve cold.
I did disable because Kwin tends to crash on me when active.

I just played with it; added a couple of lines and deleted a couple of others. In a very crude manner too, since I'm not a programmer! - Oct 23 2002
I managed (imitating james liu's code) to make rounded bottom corners for this win deco. (see shot 3).
If someone would like to host this mod, I could make it available.

PS: no developers round? Nobody compiled this for kde 3.0.4? will someone convert it to kde 3.1 when it arrives? - Oct 18 2002
