What you call background is a shadow, to make it more visible on certain backgrounds, but I agree that not always looks good so it can be turned off now.
For time font size, current behavior is that it's proportional to plasmoid size. Maybe I should add an option to change between that behavior and a fixed size, to comply with all tastes. - Sep 17 2019

But, does you find some flaw that I could fix, or just rated negative because it doesn't appeals to you.

2 and 5 are a little hard mostly because this is a (messy) fork from the original Digital Clock, and I'm not sure what to change to do this properly (entirely my limitation). So no promises.
Though, if I understand 5 correctly, I think it could be solved by 3 and 4?
6 there is a color choosing dialog. Just click on "main color" or any of the others, and it will show. Maybe I should make it so the dialog appears when you lick in the text box too?
Greetings. - Feb 08 2019

Any ideas of how it should look in the panel? - Aug 25 2018

As this will only show one category, I still don't think it should be considered as an alternative of a full fledged launcher, as I stated in the description. - Jul 27 2018

See that there is a version for plasma 5.8 (with 5.8 in the name), and another for plasma 5.9 and beyond (again see the name). - Jul 12 2018

I am in Debian squeezy (KDE 4.4.5, a little old), so I don't know if there is a package needed, though it works very well now (There is only 4 fonts in the options, however).
Great plasmoid, by the way. Added to my already full desktop. - Sep 23 2012

Could appreciate a little more documented code, specially for python neophytes as me. But as it is is very helpful.
Hope you keep developing this skeleton. - Jun 22 2012

If i have now-playing on the desktop and amarok runing, adding this plasmoid will do what it must, and I can play music with it while controling amarok with now-playing. (both in the same time, kde has progressed a lot, I remember when that was not possible without some fighting)
But if I close amarok, now-playing will pass to control the mini-player playlist, and never control amarok again until I restart kde, even if I close the mini-player plasmoid and start amarok (in that case now-playing won't control either)
I think it must be a dbus thing, but I'm only starting to get familiarized with kde4 (really waited for it to be stable), so cant solve it myself. Not big problem for me because love this plasmoid, it allows me to quickly start play some music in an old machine, and only use amarok for some heavy music playing. - Jun 20 2010
