Well, nothing fancy. Pretty much the usual way. Installed steam, bought HL2 (and Ep1, looking forward to Ep2), waited two incredibly long days for the download, during which Steam servers went hobo like... ten times or so, restarted Steam (just in case) and played the game.

The only hack I had to do was the "get past xx% steam update", but that's more than covered in the linux-gamers.net guide. - Sep 08 2007

Distro: Gentoo, pretty much up-to-date, cs_CZ unicode environment.
Libs and stuff: glibc-2.3.5, gcc-3.4, KDE-3.5.0
Compiler flags: -O2 -march=pentium4 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe
Installed: from source, using Portage
Configure flags: --prefix=/usr --host=i686-pc-linux-gnu --mandir=/usr/share/man --infodir=/usr/share/info --datadir=/usr/share --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var/lib --with-x --enable-mitshm --without-xinerama --with-qt-dir=/usr/qt/3 --enable-mt --with-qt-libraries=/usr/qt/3/lib --disable-dependency-tracking --disable-debug --without-debug --disable-final --without-arts --build=i686-pc-linux-gnu
Steps to reproduce:
1) Lauch KDE Control Center
2) Go to look 'n' feel, windeco section
3) Select deKorator from the combo box
-- kcontrol segfaults as soon as few widgets of the dekorator's config module are drawn

Can't provide a backtrace right now, I'll post one if you'd want me to.

Tested with both used and fresh user account.

Just to be sure I really have all the files, these are installed by make install:

My kcontrol segfaults when trying to load this theme. When the theme's control gui shows up, kcontrol starts to complain about null images (QImage::convertDepth: Image is a null image) and finally segfaults with
QPainter::begin: Cannot paint null pixmap
QPainter::setFont: Will be reset by begin()
QPainter::setPen: Will be reset by begin()
QPainter::end: Missing begin() or begin() failed
I'm not a theme hacker, but I guess it doesn't pick a default theme to display - Dec 31 2005

The name of this (marvellous) creation ... the slashes in it ... cause serious trouble to the KDE wallpaper downloading thingy in the desktop settings module - it gets downloaded into .kde/share/wallpapers/dev/urandom--0 ... a subdir ... and the selection combo-box never finds it :)) - Nov 24 2005

In your ebuild you ask for USE flags of KDE (with inherit kde) and then you replace them with econf --prefix=${KDEDIR} ... thus it failed to build on systems without ARTS installed etc. Please commit these fixes :) You don't have to alter the src_compile or any other function if you're inheriting kde.

Pretty nice one !
It would look even better if the font used for "Unknown Object" and "643" was different, you know ... more tech-like, like bank gothic :o) You should upload such a version (and don't worry about the "horgrathi" thing in the corner, it's on a simple background, so it's not a problem to remove it) ... or upload the .xcf, that would be even better.

I was a big fan of the old kuake, and I was happy using screen for a while but eventually got sick of the lack of tabs.
Exactly the opposite here :o) I prefer screen over tabs, because if there's a looong compilation going ... I can't shut X down (it would break the compilation) ... screen handles this situation well :) - Sep 24 2005

You gotta specify a prefix where KDE's in, i.e. ./configure --prefix=/usr/kde/3.4 for gentoo etc... an universal solution is: ./configure --prefix=`kde-config --prefix` - Sep 21 2005

I've made an ebuild for this nice windeco. Make sure you have a portage overlay (www.gentoo-wiki.com), copy it to /usr/local/portage/x11-themes/svg-deco/ and say ebuild /usr/local/portage/x11-themes/svg-deco/svg-deco-0.1.ebuild digest. Then, emerge -av svg-deco will do the job for you. - Jul 05 2005
