Plasma 5 Menus by cupnoodles 32 comments

Ha, so it's finally going to be retired. I think it's about time. We came up with the UI in 2005 [1], when I still thought the original IPod's sliding tab interface was pretty nifty and a way to save screen space on the 1024x768 displays of the era.

How will nepomuk+soprano+virtuoso react if the conversion is not done before the kde session starts, and is instead started manually by the user? Will nepomuk be disabled until the next session start after conversion? - Feb 04 2010

It can't be done automatically because the conversion could require double the normal amount of db disk space, so I guess the virtuoso user (KDE) has to check if there is space and defer the conversion if not.

trueg: this could be a beeg problem if the user indexes everything. Is there a way to drop the strigi-indexed (ie re-creatable) stuff from the db to reduce its size before the conversion?

+1. And you should mail kde-packagers@ for this discussion. - Feb 04 2010

Get it from your distro. If your distro doesn't support it already, the gnome (build time) dependencies are the least of your problems in getting it working.

It's not a KDE application, but a cross-desktop daemon. Since it's coded using glib2 it only depends on that plus D-Bus and a few other network prerequesites, but pulls in Gnome dependencies to build the gnome applet, that until recently was shipped as part of the main daemon RPM. - Feb 22 2008

It works here. What probably happened was the mirror that you were redirected to was not synced up with the build service yet.

However, did you add as the repository? You should have been able to add the repository in any case, even if the domino package was not in your mirror yet. - Jan 21 2007

smart is included in the distribution and can be used as well as YaST packagemanagement. smart doesn't do deltarpms though, so online update is slower. You also have the choice to use rug or zypper on the command line.

Note that we now have an 'openSUSE package management' option at install time that removes ZMD etc, making package management as fast as on 10.0 and before. - Nov 24 2006
Check out the Yahoo emoticons (available directly in Kopete using KNewStuff). They are already animated gifs. MNGs are supported too.

Now get busy making some themes! - Apr 22 2005

Kopete Styles by SegFault 10 comments

Your installer is really nice, but the tarball layout could be made compatible with the KNewStuff support in Kopete. This extracts the tarball directly in $KDEHOME/share/apps/kopete/styles, so it expects YourStyle.xsl in the root and data/YourStyleDataDir.

You could adopt this layout and call your installer so KDE 3.4 can use it, and CVS/3.5 users use KNewStuff with the same tarball. - Apr 14 2005

You can use this script to knock people off IRC for excess flooding.

Seb, can you put a large warning indicating this on the notes, or fix it? - Jun 23 2004

I'd like to know so I can fix it. - Jun 23 2004

If you mean a desktop aggregator app, check out kdenonbeta/akregator. It's very alpha at the moment, though. - May 05 2004

Icon Sub-Sets by kborrey 4 comments

Hi Kristof. I tried to mail you but your skynet address bounces.

I'd like to include the core icons from this set with Kopete, with a pointer in the documentation describing how to install the complete set. Is this ok?

To get in touch, look me up on the Kopete-devel mailing list.

I think the pink/orange hue of the shell's pearl is a little too close to the colour of the shell itself. How about a pure white pearl with bluish shading? - Aug 05 2002
