All the themes seem to have this behaviour.

It's visible also through the different hover-colour, which appears only when you hover the close-button, but does not appear when putting the cursor to top-right for maximised windows. - Aug 15 2009
Hi,

congrats for Aurorae, it's hot and IMHO the future windec for KDE.

One thing I noticed after switching from Oxygen is that throwing the pointer to top-right and clicking does not close the windows anymore since the "trigger-area" of the close button does not extend over the actual button.

Is this a problem in Aurorae or in the Svg-Theme? - Aug 15 2009

I have to say I like it a lot!

It is a very nice addition to the "old" K-Menu.

If I were you I would take contact with the KDE devs and collect their opinion about including it in KDE 4, and IMHO even in making it the default.

For me, there is only one special functionality over the classic menu that I miss:
The classic K-Menu can be customized to have submenus for "Settings", "Systen menu", "Printers" etc (see in the kicker config, the "Menu" tab)

But apart of that, it looks and feels really great!

Maybe give it the same artwork than the old menu, in terms of side image, and maybe a title which could be the name of the currently logged user e.g...

Did you ever think about posting knemo
to kde-devel and ask if they would
like to have it included in KDE by
default.

It's so useful and cool that I cannot
live without it anymore.

I mainly use it to check my wireless
connection, and to trigger my isdn
connection (with custom RMB commands) - Nov 20 2004
I think there is a conceptual difference between network interfaces in windows and Linux.

In Linux, and interface can be UP and not connected at the same time.
Just remove the RJ45 from ur NIC and u'll see...
The interface will stay up, even it is not really connected at this point of time...

In windows however, an interface that is not connected is automatically down.

Try to remove the RJ45 and type ipconfig... no more interface...

IMHO, knemo should try to detect whether an interface is connected or not however, although I don't know of any method of doing that... - Jul 30 2004
cannot test it right now... but I am 99% sure that
after doing '/etc/init.d/isdnutils stop'
there is no interface ippp0 anymore

Gonna confirm you tonight. - Jul 30 2004
"You can see if you are online or not. When you are offline the icon of KNemo will have a red cross in its corner to indicate that this interface is not connected. When KNemo detects that you are online (it does so by finding that the interface has an IP address assigned) the cross will vanish."

well not for me infortunately... :-(

In fact my isdn interface ippp0 is
up all the time, even if I'm not connected...
It even has an ip-address, look at this output:

root@Valhalla:~# /etc/init.d/isdnutils stop
Stopping ISDN services: ipppd interfaces isdnlog.
root@Valhalla:~# /etc/init.d/isdnutils start

root@Valhalla:~# isdnctrl status ippp0

root@Valhalla:~# isdnctrl dial ippp0

root@Valhalla:~# ifconfig ippp0

Apart of that, the red cross is great,
I've tried it by doing ifconfig eth0 down.

I wish only I could see it for ippp0... :-)

regards and thanks for knemo - Jul 29 2004
I really like knemo, and I have even removed kisdndial,
and use knemo to trigger dialup.

But there is one thing that bothers me silghtly...
I wish I could see if I am online or not from the icon of knemo, somehow like in (sorry) windows...
Knemo should detect when an interface
is a dialup connection, and then change
its icon to reflect the status of the connection.

Apart of that it rocks!! As I said already, I think it should be included, shipped and activated by default in kde.

(Maybe later you can use dbus to get the
information about the interfaces)

thanks and best regards! - Jul 28 2004
I investigated a little... ;-)

Triggering my isdn connection is possible by setting up knemo
like this:

  • Enable "Display custom entries in context menu"

  • Under "Start": Menu Text: "Connect"

  • Command: "/usr/sbin/isdnctrl dial ippp0"

  • Under "Stop": Menu Text: "Disconnect"

  • Command: /usr/sbin/isdnctrl hangup ippp0"

btw, what are the labels "Start" and "Stop" good for? - Jul 26 2004
and it should definately go into kde cvs,
and distributed and activated by default!

Triggering dial-up connections and displaying their status would be nice... :-) - Jul 26 2004

ok, about the titlebar height:
Maybe just make the "small" setting
just a little smaller. I agree that
using the menubar as reference would be ugly... ;-)

And about 2:
well... don't u find it looks better
centered? Now, for me it just looks, well, strange, as you called it...

And usability-wise, it only
helps (a little) for the close-button,
but not for the others. - Oct 02 2003
Hi,

plastik rocks! It's the best-looking
windowdecoration ever.

I have 1 wish for it:

make the height of the titlebar
even a little smaller, 1 or 2 pixels.
The height of the titlebar should equal the height of the menubar, unless titlebar font is bigger.
In that case the titlebar should adapt it's height to the fontsize

And a problem (bug) I see:
the buttons are not really centered
when you are in fullscreen mode with
"Shrink borders for maximized windows"

They seem to have 0px distance to the top and right screen border, but still have a distance to the bottom of the titlebar.

Removing (or shrinkin) the borders lools very good IMHO, but I think the
buttons should be centered in the titlebar when maximized.
Just move them 2px down and 2px left, and it looks perfectly.

thanks for you contribution! - Sep 28 2003

I voted for your bug (20) because I like
your ideas.

However kde developers prefer _one_ single
wish per report.

This makes management easier as you can
close bug per bug as developement
evolves.

With all in one, your bug will need to
